Can you cook puff pastry on its own?
You can bake Puff Pastry on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Always use a preheated conventional oven to bake Puff Pastry, never a microwave or toaster oven, as they can ‘t achieve the right golden puffy effect. If bubbles appear on the surface while baking Puff Pastry, prick with a fork to deflate them.

Why isn’t my puff pastry puffing?
One of the most common reasons that your puff pastry didn’t rise is the baking temperature. Puff pastry needs to be baked in a very hot oven of about 400 degrees. Low oven temperatures can cause the puff pastry to fall flat and sink in on itself.

Line a 10 x 8 inch pie dish with one roll of the puff pastry. PRO TIP This helps to prevent the pie having a soggy bottom. Because it’s puff pastry the sides will puff up a bit (which I don’t mind), if you want to prevent this, just fill up with more baking beans. Take out of the oven and put to one side.
How bad is puff pastry for you?
About a third of puff and shortcrust pastry is fat, and if it’s made with butter or palm oil, it contains more saturated fat than if it’s made with unsaturated fats such as sunflower spread.
